⚡Job Description
Our Engineering team is looking for a skilled Test Engineer to help with testing both our current Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE) products and new products in development. The ideal candidate will have experience with all aspects of hardware testing, including tracking requirements, creating test plans, building test fixtures, running in-house tests, managing external tests, organizing test data, and working with production lines. We need someone excited to be involved in these areas, either by leading or working alongside our team.
This role focuses on collaborating with external partners to understand their testing needs and making sure tests are completed.
⚡Responsibilities
- Track and verify requirements and determine the best way to test them.
- Create test profiles for environmental testing (e.g., thermal shock, corrosion, weathering).
- Use statistical analysis to decide how many samples are needed to meet reliability targets.
- Write clear reports to share test results with customers.
- Work with product teams to develop test strategies that help turn prototypes into final products.
- Team up with hardware and firmware engineers to troubleshoot issues.
- Oversee in-house and external test equipment, methods, and documentation.
- Work with firmware teams to validate new product features.
- Collaborate with the compliance team on necessary testing for UL, FCC, and other standards.
- Work with manufacturers and internal teams to design or review solutions for production line testing.
- Assist design engineers with development testing when needed.
⚡Required Qualifications & Skills
- 5+ years of experience in developing and running test plans for complex products.
- Experience working with automotive manufacturers and managing project deliverables.
- Strong ability to manage workload and project deadlines.
- Expertise in electrical, mechanical, and environmental testing.
- Ability to read and understand electrical schematics.
- Familiarity with AC (3-phase, 240V) and high-voltage DC power systems and their testing.
- Experience with root cause analysis (e.g., Fishbone, Fault Tree, FMEA).
- Knowledge of renewable energy systems, electric vehicles, and charging technology.
- Proficiency in one or more scripting languages (Python, JavaScript, Visual Basic) for lab automation.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
⚡Desired Qualifications & Skills
- Familiarity with onboard and offboard EVSEs.
- Ability to perform MTBF analysis.
- Knowledge of automotive communication protocols (e.g., ISO 15118-2, J1772).
- Familiarity with UL safety standards like UL 2231-½.
- Understanding of National Electric Code for wiring and installation.
- Experience with certification testing (UL, FCC, Energy Star).
- Expertise in Python for lab automation.
- Experience with Altium Designer.
